Ice Breakers

Objective: “Establish a positive climate to promote learning”
Over the first two weeks of school each student designed an “ice breaker” activity and taught the activity to the class. We did these activities to help meet our learning objectives:

· Establish a positive climate to promote learning. (KPES 5) (Domain 2.2a) 15.1
  · Establish respect and rapport to foster positive social and intellectual interactions.

Some of the activities we did include:

· Year of the Coin, the Shoe Game, Brown Bag activity, Adjective Game, Dice Game, I Have Never. . .,  Human Scavenger Hunt, Telephone Name Game, Snowball Fight, What Would You Bring to the Picnic, Down by the Bank, Would You Rather, Freeze, Remember Me?, Red Rover, Deserted Island, Spider Web, Alphabetical Name Game

Exploring Teaching will hopefully allow students many opportunities to develop respect and promote learning in a variety of ways.

Chica Chica Boom Boom

Look Who’s In this classroom.
Exploring Teaching and Teaching Internship are off to a wonderful start. As a class we read Chica Chica Boom Boom and completed our 2014-2015 Finger Print Tree. This tree is a tradition in room 301 and features each future teachers thumb print and signature. This tree helps create a positive classroom climate of inclusion and learning.
Each student also selected an alpha letter and wrote their name to decorate our palm tree.

Flat Stanley Fun

For our first Book Box we read a passage from Flat Stanley’s: His Original Adventures. We created a GEHS Instagram Account. Make sure to follow us at @GEHSFutureTeachers. Students will be taking photos with the Flat Stanley’s throughout the year. I am excited to see what type of adventures our Exploring Teachers have.

Check us out at http://instagram.com/gehsfutureteachers to follow our Flat Stanley Adventures this year.

2014 Teacher Interns

Preparing for a new year

School supplies and in and it’s time to get ready for a brand new school year. As a teacher, school supplies’ shopping has always been one of my favorite activities. This year we have some new additions to room 301, including our brand new reading rug. Students will each develop a Book Box this year and teach a lesson to the class.

What Every Teacher Intern Needs

The GEHS Teacher Interns got ready to leave and being their internship this week. Both of them received an “Internship Start Up” Kit to help make sure they are successful and have all the materials and supplies that are essential to being a teacher and working with students.
            Their Kit Included
-          A clipboard to store papers
-          Sharpie for grading
-          Extra gum for going the Extra Mile with their students
-          A Sticky Note Lined pad to take notes
-          Teaching Lanyard for their Official USD 231 Teacher Intern Id
-          Payday, because all their hard work is about to pay off
Teacher Interns also received a Blazer Blue “Cardi” with embroidered GE and Teacher Intern. Dressing professionally is one of the requirements for this course.  Students are representing not only GEHS and the Teacher Training Pathway, but gaining practice and skills someone in the teaching profession will use.
